Frequent asked questions

The Acropolis is the rocky formation that looms over the city of Athens. It is considered to be an archaeological site and contains the ruins of ancient monuments dating from the pre-historic to the modern times.

When it comes to the Acropolis Hill, the opening hours vary during the winter and the summer time as detailed below:
Winter: 08:00 – 17:00
Summer: 8:00- 19:30
16th to 30th September: 08:00 – 19:00
1st to 15th October: 08:00 – 18:30
16th to 30th October: 08:00 – 18:00

The new Acropolis Museum is open daily. (The opening hours vary as seen in the following chart)
From 1 November to 31 March:
Monday – Thursday: 9 am – 5 pm
Friday: 9 am – 10 pm
Saturday and Sunday: 9 am – 8 pm

From 1 April to 31 October:
Monday: 9 am – 5 pm
Tuesday – Sunday: 9 am – 8 pm
Friday: 9 am – 10 pm

The pricing differs according to the season. April 1st – October 31st you will be charged 20€ / person for the Acropolis Hill and an additional 15€ / person for the Acropolis Museum. During the off-season months (November – March) you will be charged 10€ / person for the Acropolis Hill and 10€ / person for the Acropolis Museum.

The tickets to both archaeological sites (the Acropolis Hill archaeological site and the Acropolis museum) are valid for ONE ENTRY ONLY. You will not need a ticket to the area of Anafiotika.

All group tours are conducted in ENGLISH. Private tours can also be conducted in French or Spanish upon request.

It is always advised to have with you a bottle of water, a pair of sunglasses and a hat, especially during the hot summer months in Athens (April – October). Check the weather forecast and if necessary bring a raincoat or/and an umbrella. Your shoes should be enclosed and supportive as the Acropolis Hill can be considered a hiking experience.

For safety reasons it is NOT allowed and/or advised to bring inside any the following items:
– Any food or beverage except for water
– Any sharp items, such as knives or bottle openers
– Any large backpacks will be handed to the cloakroom in the Acropolis museum
– No pets are allowed, except for guide dogs

If you opt for the option without the tickets, you will have to purchase them on your own.
No food or drink is provided by the company.
In case it rains the company WILL provide you with a raincoat, but NOT with an umbrella.
